First Baptist Church is an independent, autonomous body of believers in Jesus Christ who have banded together according to the Scriptures to obey God in worship, service and fellowship. We believe that the Scriptures constitute our only authority for faith and practice. We believe that the Word of God was inspired in the original autographs, and is God's authoritative revelation to mankind. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and gave Himself on the cross of Calvary as the atonement for sin. We believe that all those who put their trust in Him for forgiveness of sins are born again by the Holy Spirit, and that those saved will never lose their salvation. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming again, first at the rapture for the saints, and secondly to reveal himself as the King of Kings to rule the earth. We believe in two offices, Pastor and Deacon(s) and two ordinances, Baptisim and The Lord's Table, within the local church, and that solid Bible preaching and teaching are the bedrock of the church. We believe it to be our duty to evangelize the lost, and to edify the saints. We believe in secondary (scriptural) separation from sin, and have as our utmost goal to allow Jesus Christ first place in our lives. |
